Can we heal from within or do we need to rely wholly and solely on others

Myth:

We cannot heal ourselves without being attuned to any holistic modality or without any degree/knowledge related to medical science.

Fact:

We can heal ourselves with the simple knowledge on how to invoke our inner healer and acknowledge its presence in our life. Our body always gives us a clue, a hunch in the form of some signal on what’s going on within us. We need to be aware of those signals and allow the inner healer to rectify them.

Deepak Chopra says that “you honor your body’s wisdom by trusting the signals it sends you”. Well, these lines are the simplest way of explaining the importance of believing in our inner healer and being in accordance with our internal and external world.

Yes, you read it right, all of us have the power to heal ourselves. We need to be aware of two parts of our body for the healing process to take place: the first part is the one that has the power to heal us, and the second part is the one that is waiting to be healed. You must have noticed that whenever we cut ourselves while shaving or with a knife while cooking, we simply apply an antiseptic ointment and leave the wound open, and the rest of the work is done by our body. The life source within us heals our wounds and a new layer of skin grows. All we did was to allow/permit ourselves to be healed, and within a few days, we feel as good as new.

Since our childhood, we hear “Time is the best healer”, any guesses, why is that saying so apt? Well, simply because the energy source in our body (our soul and subconscious mind) works as a healer at spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical levels. And with time our subconscious either helps us in accepting the pain & allows it to heal, or it takes the pain away & buries it in some black hole of our memory. In case we choose the latter wherein, we are willing to bury our pain in the deepest corner, we are actually moving away from our internal world and creating future troubles in our mental/emotional/physical health. In such a case we are moving away from our inner healer, we are leaving ourselves in an unresolved state.

For all those who believe in karmic connections, souls, spirituality, and outside forces, I am not saying that the universal energies don’t exist, nor am I saying that we don’t need an outside intervention of a healer from time to time. What I am implying is that our healing starts from within, and the moment we completely rely on outside help, we truly begin to live in the effect side of the “cause and effect” equation. In such a situation, we are not just relying on others, but we are also putting our burden of healing on them. Per spirituality, we say we are creating a karmic connection.

For an instance, let’s imagine that we are completely fine with being dependent on healers: holistic healers can heal us till the time we avail their services, Dr. will treat us as and when we visit them. But I genuinely need you to ask yourself whether or not you truly think that this is a sustainable process over the long run?

We all have that unshakable healing power within us that is not only sustainable but also enables us to be self-reliant and helps in maintaining our health.

Benefits of the inner healer:

  • ·        Minimal dependence on outside intervention
  • ·        A healthier lifespan with better lifestyle choices

As strange as it may sound, it may also sound strange, but whenever we hear our inner healer, we are not just choosing a healthy lifestyle, we are also looking forward to raising our self-awareness. It’s like exercising: so whenever we start exercising or indulging in any form of activity, we automatically start developing healthy habits and routines because we acknowledge the labor put by us to get the desired results.
